The elf owl is the smallest owl in the world.  At only 5 inches tall, this little bird is a fierce predator that eats insects such as scorpions and beetles.  This carving is mounted on a piece of maple burl.

Description

This sculpture was carved from tupelo, painted with acrylic paint and covered with a protective finish that provides worry free dusting.  At eight and a half inches tall this sculpture would look great on a desk, table or bookshelf.  The Elf owl is perched on a piece of maple burl that has been finished with Tung oil.  The grain pattern on the base is almost as interesting as the carved owl.

This tiny owl is available for purchase, If you have any questions about the sculpture, I would enjoy talking to you.   Commissioned piece allow the customer to help design the piece in terms of the birds position, if it sits on a simple piece of wood or if it is to be placed on a branch or plant of your preference.
